Michael Parmentier is Associate Director Science & Technology at Novartis, Basel. He joined the company in 2012 as Process chemist in Chemical & Analytical development. He is mainly involved in early phase projects including transfer to plant (up to 100Kg) for the manufacture of Active Phamaceutical Ingredients (API) and implementation of new technologies. Michael graduated from the University of Nancy (France) and then started in 2004 his PhD-studies at the University of Montreal (Canada) in the laboratory of Prof. Hélène Lebel. In 2009, he joined the group of Prof. Andreas Pfaltz at the University of Basel as post-doctoral fellow working on C-H activation reactions applied to Hydrogen Isotope Exchange reaction in close collaboration with Hoffman-La-Roche laboratories. Beside his scientific activities, he is managing exchanges with academia including collaborations and supporting lectures on process chemistry. He authored more than 30 publications and 5 published patents.
