Dans le cadre du programme Ambassadeurs@INC, Bordeaux va accueillir Laura Kiessling lors de son Tour de France organisé la dernière quinzaine d’avril 2023. Elle sera à Bordeaux le 26 avril en matinée et donnera une conférence dans le cadre d’un mini-symposium « Chémobiologie » à l’Institut Européen de Chimie et Biologie » (9h30-11h30, amphithéâtre de l’IECB, 2 rue Robert Escarpit, 33600 Pessac) au cours duquel quatre collègues de l’Université de Bordeaux auront également l’opportunité de présenter leurs travaux à l’interface chimie-biologie.Laura Kiessling est Professeur au département de Chimie du Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA). Elle est membre de l’American Academy of Arts & Sciences, l’American Academy of Microbiology, l’American Philosophical Society, et la National Academy of Sciences. Ses thématiques de recherche sont centrées sur la chémobiologie et plus spécifiquement sur la fonction et la reconnaissance des glycanes à la surface cellulaire ainsi que sur le développement d’applications thérapeutiques (lutte contre les infections microbiennes, immunothérapie).

As part of the Ambassadors@INC program, Bordeaux will welcome Laura Kiessling during her Tour de France in the last two weeks of April 2023. She will be in Bordeaux on April 26 in the morning and will give a lecture in the framework of a mini-symposium dedicated to « Chemical Biology » at the Institut Européen de Chimie et Biologie (9:30-11:30 am, IECB amphitheater, 2 rue Robert Escarpit, 33600 Pessac ). On this occasion, four colleagues from the Univ. Bordeaux will present their research at the chemistry-biology interface.
Laura Kiessling is Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA). She is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the American Academy of Microbiology, the American Philosophical Society, and the National Academy of Sciences. Her research interests focus on the chemical biology of carbohydrates and more specifically on the function and recognition of glycans at the cell surface and on the development of therapeutic applications (control of microbial infections, immunotherapies).
